Lauren's Montessori Journey
Founder Lauren Pateau observing Montessori students in prepared environment
With 15+ years in Montessori education, Lauren Pateau began as an after-school teacher inspired by children’s natural curiosity. Her journey evolved from witnessing Montessori autonomy to becoming AMI-certified (3-6 years), earning Child Development Associate and Director credentials.
Founding Philosophy
Lauren founded the Little Beach House Montessori after identifying a gap in the values which aligned with her vision for early childhood education.
Lauren founded Little Beach House after identifying a gap in values-aligned South Beach education. She created a sanctuary blending mindfulness, inclusivity, and hands-on learning – a place where children develop lifelong curiosity through play-based academics and positive discipline.

Leadership Approach
Lauren empowers teachers to maintain authentic Montessori practices while embracing innovation. Her leadership prioritizes:
Teacher training in modern educational advancements
Nurturing social-emotional skills and independence
Creating prepared environments where children feel valued
Personal Commitment
Practicing mindfulness and wellness with little ones
Guided by Montessori’s principle that “children work as if I did not exist,” Lauren cultivates independent thinkers. When not leading the school, she explores cultures and mindfulness practices to enhance educational experiences, ensuring every child develops resilience and global awareness.
